When we designed Golden Drip, we didn’t start with Pinterest boards or coffee shop templates. We started with a question: what does a space need to feel like in order to slow you down?
The answer was rooted in wabi-sabi — the Japanese aesthetic of finding beauty in imperfection. Our concrete floors have natural cracks. The wooden tables show their grain. The ceramics are hand-thrown, each one slightly different. Nothing is polished to a showroom finish because that’s not what makes a space feel alive.
We collaborated with local ceramicist Yuki Tanaka for our custom cups and with furniture maker Daniel Osei for our communal tables. Every material was chosen for how it ages, not just how it looks on day one. A year in, the space has a patina that can’t be designed — only earned.
